The Swift Current Museum presents Hunter of the Prairie Sea, an exhibition on long term loan from the Royal Saskatchewan Museum. This exhibit features “Omācīw” (oh-matchee-oh) a Tylosaurus (TIE-low-SORE-us) skeleton, over 9.75 metres (32 feet) in length. Discovered near Herbert, Saskatchewan, the Tylosaur fossil was excavated in 1995. Omācīw can be seen in the permanent exhibit area of the Swift Current Museum.
Public viewing hours for the Museum are Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, September through May. The Museum is also open Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 pm. in June, July and August.
The Museum is adjacent to the Trans-Canada Highway, and provides visitor services to the travelling public. Guided tours are available for schools, community groups and visitors. To book a tour in advance, call the Museum at (306) 778-2775.
