Friday, September 30th, 2011:

  • 12:00 pm: Kick-off Ceremonies @ Innovation Credit Union
    Join Mayor Schafer and other VIPs to begin our weekend of cultural discovery and celebration!
  • 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm: SCCHS Music Department Busking @ Bank of Montreal Heritage Square
    A number of small groups of high-school students performing downtown.
  • 12:00 pm – 2:30 pm: School Tours and Performances @ Maverick School
    Tour the facilities of Maverick Alternative School and enjoy demonstrations and performances by talented students.
  • 12:30 pm – 1:10 pm: SCCHS Music Department Open Choral Rehearsal @ SC Comp High School
    High-school music program behind-the-scenes peek.
  • 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm: Gallery Discovery Tours @ Art Gallery of Swift Current
    Join school students as they tour through the exhibition with exhibition artist Twyla Exner.
  • 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Behind-the-Scenes Tour @ Swift Current Museum
    Behind-the-scenes tour of the entire facility and its inner workings.
  • 7:30 pm – 8:45 pm: Choir Experience for the Hesitant Singer @ Zion Mennonite Church
    Interested participants are welcomed to learn basic singing techniques from veteran educator Marcia McLean, sponsored by the Swift Current Oratorio Choir.
  • 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm: Coffeehouse Evening @ Art Gallery of Swift Current
    Talk and tour with exhibition artist Twyla Exner, delicious food, and cash bar.
  • 9:00 pm – 12:00 am: Blenders Jazz Concert with Peripheral Vision @ Art Gallery of Swift Current
    Free concert featuring Toronto jazz quartet Peripheral Vision.

Saturday, October 1st, 2011:

  • 10:00 am – 12:00 pm: Imagination Station @ Art Gallery of Swift Current
    Children ages 7-10 are invited to experiment at tables full of art activities.
  • 10:00 am – 3:00 pm: Skyswept Designs Studio Tour and Demonstration @ SW Centre for Entrepreneurial Development. Tour the studio of local fabric artist Louise Perrin, enjoy
    demonstrations, and make something of your own.
  • 11:00 am – 12:30 pm: Culinary Arts @ Urban Ground
    Speciality coffee demonstration.
  • 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm: SCCHS Music Department Busking @ Bank of Montreal Heritage Square
    Groups of high-school students performing downtown.
  • 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm: All Our Fingers in the Pie @ Sarah Galvin's kitchen, 1149 Bothwell Dr., Swift Current. Cooking demonstrations with local food blogger.
  • 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm: Southwest Open Exhibition @ West Wing Gallery, Kinetic Park
    Enjoy local art in Swift Current's newest public gallery
  • 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm: Tea Tour of the Lyric
    Tea, virtual tour of the theatre, and other film entertainment.
  • 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Little Theatre Behind-the-Scenes - Play Readings @ Beatty Playhouse
    Join the actors for a behind-the-scenes script reading.
  • 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Amateur Writers' "By the Book" @ Art Gallery of Swift Current
    Hear some local writing talent, learn about our local writers, ask questions, and discuss.
  • 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Swift Current Museum Cemetery Tour @ Mount Pleasant Cemetery
    Learn about Victorian cemetery practice and 'meet' some of the founders of Swift Current.
  • 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm: Sk8 Park BMX and Skateboard Demo @ Kiwanis Sk8 Park
    Come out to the Kiwanis Sk8 Park and enjoy an exciting demonstration of local talent.
  • 7:30 pm – 12:00 am: Lyric Theatre Rocktoberfest
    An evening featuring local rock music.

Sunday, October 2nd, 2011:

  • 10:00 am – 1:00 pm: Culture Games in the Park @ Riverside Park
    Cultural games and activities for the entire family.
  • 11:00 am – 3:00 pm: All Our Fingers in the Pie @ Sarah Galvin's kitchen, 1149 Bothwell Dr., Swift Current. Cooking demonstrations with local food blogger.
  • 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm: Music Festival Open House @ Art Gallery of Swift Current
    Come out to the Art Gallery of Swift Current to enjoy an afternoon of music and information.
  • 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm: Doc's Town Tours
    Discover your culture in the historic Doc's Town buildings and displays.
  • 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm: Southwest Open Exhibition @ West Wing Gallery, Kinetic Park
    Enjoy a display of local art in the Southwest Open Exhibition.
  • 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm: Open House @ Swift Current Museum

    A rare behind-the-scenes peek into the practices and processes behind the high school's drama production.
  • 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Sunday at the Gallery @ Art Gallery of Swift Current
    Free demonstration by a professional artist.
  • 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm: Cultural Serenade @ the Lyric Theatre
    A celebration of music of the different cultures, and an opportunity to meet with community members and make new friends through music.
